WHO WILL BE AWARDED THE TITLE OF THE YOUNG ENTREPRENEUR 2009?

Date:               Thursday April 30th, 2009
Venue:            The Malton Hotel, Killarney
Time:              7.00pm

With the announcement of Young Entrepreneur 2009 looming, fifteen enterprising students are busy putting the final touches to pitch their business plans hoping to impress the esteemed panel of judges from Kerry's business community.

Since September 2008, teachers, lecturers and mentors supported by the Institute of Technology, Tralee and the Kerry Technology Park, have been fostering the spirit of enterprise and drilling students in the art of creating home-grown companies, from business boot camps to business plan days.  The hard work will finally come to a climax when the winners are announced at an awards night on Thursday April 30th.

Sean Gallagher, Smarthomes and Dragons Den; Joanna Gardiner, Elave; Colum O'Sullivan, Cully & Sully and Mike Fitzgerald, Altobridge are the judges with the difficult task of deciding who gets the overall prize of title of Young Entrepreneur 2009 and a trip of a lifetime to San Francisco and Silicon Valley for the overall winner.

The winning student and their educator will come face to face with two of the most famous entrepreneurial brands in the world - Apple and Google - when they visit the Apple headquarters in Cupertino and the Googleplex in Silicon Valley. In addition, Apple co-founder Guy Kawasaki has agreed to share his view of entrepreneurship in a one-to-one session with the Young Entrepreneur 2009. A visit to Stanford University, which has produced some of Silicon Valley's most famous entrepreneurs, is the final stop on this awesome trip to the capital of entrepreneurship.
The best second level and third level entries walk away with an Apple Mac Book each, while the best educator will receive a holiday voucher to the value of €1,000.
